Radio Controlled Cars
Nikko FJ-40 Toyota Land Cruiser:
Kristian's first R/C vehicle. Purchased to go along with our FJ-40 project. Originally the idea was to make the two identical, however Kristian came up with other customization ideas of his own. This 2wd R/C goes a lot of places, if only it were a 4wd, then it would be unstoppable. Modifications include removing the rear roll cage, removing the front bumper, adding a fire extinguisher and the addition of graphics (flames, etc). Body mounts were changed to regular R/C car body mount pins instead of being bolted to the chassis. Bolink 1940 Ford:
Tamiya Blitzer Beetle:
This is a custom made Tamiya vehicle made from about 3 different Tamiya models. The body is a Blitzer Beetle (monster beetle} body. The chassis is from a TAO2 rally car. The suspension and dogbones are from a Dirt Thrasher. The wheels and tires are from a Tamiya S10 stadium truck. The car has a Trinity 15t double motor. Custom make body mounts. The paint is candy apple red. This car is FAST!!! Ford Focus Rally Car:
Miscellaneous shots:
Testing the FJ-40 without the body on.
Swapping from off-road tires (Beetle) to the smaller on-road tires (Focus).
Oak Mountain State Park, Birmingham Alabama. A recently rebuilt track, still no jumps last time we were there. Kristian managed to get in some good testing this day, in spite of water still on portions of the track from the latest rainstorm. |
